Barcelona ´cannot afford´ to lose Vidal in January, says Blaugrana president Bartomeu

Barcelona cannot afford to let unsettled midfielder Arturo Vidal leave the club in January, according to president Josep Maria Bartomeu.

Vidal has started just four of Barca s 20 matches this season and last month vowed to quit the Spanish champions next year if he is not made to feel important .

Barca boss Ernesto Valverde has opened the door for the Chile international to find a new team, with Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta recently hinting his side are interested.

However, Bartomeu is expecting Vidal a reported €18million signing from Bayern Munich in August 2018 to remain at Camp Nou until at least the end of the season.

Dortmund chief confirms intent to sign Hakimi

Borussia Dortmund will attempt to secure loanee defender Achraf Hakimi on a permanent deal, according to club CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke.

The 20-year-old is on a two-year loan from Real Madrid and has made eight league appearances in Dortmund s unbeaten start to the Bundesliga season.

Watzke used a speech to his playing staff to welcome Paco Alcacer to the club after activating the option to purchase the Spain striker from Barcelona outright and stated his intent to follow up the deal with another one for Hakimi.

Italy have omitted Fiorentina forward Giuseppe Rossi from their final 23-man squad for the FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Rossi damaged the anterior cruciate ligament in his right leg in January, but recovered to earn a place in Cesare Prandelli s provisional party.
